Porcelain Fixed Bridges

Discover the benefits of implant-supported bridges for missing teeth

There are numerous consequences of losing natural teeth. Missing teeth can ruin your smile, make it difficult to eat, or put you at greater risk of tooth infections or gum disease. At Shadowridge Dental Group in San Marcos, California, we offer various restorative options for replacing lost teeth, one of which is implant-supported bridges. If you’re missing one or more teeth, a fixed dental bridge can restore your smile to its former glory.

What is an implant-supported bridge?

Dental bridges are artificial teeth used to replace consecutive missing teeth. Standard bridges are attached to natural teeth on either side of the gap left by lost teeth. In contrast, an implant-supported bridge is secured permanently to implants which will be placed into your jawbone. The number of implants you’ll need depends on the number of teeth you’re replacing. As a rule of thumb, two implants are generally used to support three replacement teeth.

Benefits of implant-supported bridges

There are numerous benefits to securing a fixed bridge to implants. Here are just a few:

  • The procedure doesn’t alter or affect adjacent natural teeth.
  • Implants provide greater stability for your bridge, so you can eat without restrictions.
  • Implants can last a lifetime, providing a permanent structure for supporting a bridge.
  • Implants prevent bone loss that may lead to facial sagging due to lost teeth.
  • Implant-supported porcelain bridges restore your beautiful and healthy smile.
